The Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) is the state regulatory agency responsible for issuing cannabis business licenses required to open a Connecticut cannabis dispensary. There are currently 4 medical cannabis dispensaries and 37 active recreational dispensaries as of June 1st, 2023 according to the State of Connecticut’s license search website.

With Missouri and Maryland voting to legalize adult-use in November 2022, the ranks of states that have approved adult-use cannabis sales swelled to 21. But those were just two 2022 developments that continued the evolution of a cannabis landscape across the U.S.
