New Jersey Cannabis Application & Licensing

Despite its small size, New Jersey is demonstrating immense potential in the cannabis industry. In the first quarter of 2024, adult use cannabis earnings across the state surged to over $201 million, marking a notable 38 percent increase compared to the same period last year.  With a market currently anticipated to surpass $1 billion in sales in 2024 alone, the introduction of new licenses presents a significant opportunity for entry into the expanding New Jersey cannabis market.

This ongoing approach ensures that there are no restrictive deadlines, providing greater accessibility for businesses seeking to enter the cannabis market. By keeping the application window perpetually open, New Jersey aims to encourage a diverse range of participants and maintain a dynamic and competitive industry. This flexibility supports both small and large enterprises, fostering innovation and growth within the state's cannabis sector.

Social Equity Businesses, Diversely Owned Businesses, and Impact-Zone businesses will be prioritized in the licensure process so that their applications are reviewed before other applicants – regardless of when they apply.
