Tom Adams is the most experienced industry analyst and strategic consultant in legal cannabis. Tom founded Adams Cannabis Research in July 2020 after four years as head of Industry Intelligence at BDSA, where he led the team that developed the Arcview/BDSA model of the legal cannabis markets and BDSA’s pharmaceutical and CBD forecasts. The Intel team at BDSA also provided data-based strategic advice to many top cannabis tech companies, retailers, brands and cultivators, and to CPG companies investigating cannabinoid market entry.
Tom joined BDSA in June 2016 after more than two decades of industry research innovation as the head of Adams Media Research, which the New York Times called “a leading monitor of the entertainment business.” Tom founded AMR in 1995 to track the growing impact of new digital technologies such as digital TV, the internet and mobile devices on the media industry. The company helped companies ranging from Fortune 50 media and technology giants to innovative start-ups develop strategies to capitalize on the new digital technologies. Tom began his career as an industry analyst at Paul Kagan Associates, developing some of the earliest research into video entertainment consumption and technology adoption patterns. Tom earned degrees in philosophy and classics at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
